En kronologisk dagbok som berättar om livet i Baobabhuset. Vi som befinner oss här nu är Louis, som kom för tre veckor sedan, och Josefine, som kom bara för fyra dagar sedan. Josefine är också arkitektstuderande på Chalmers såsom Louis. Imorgon lördag blir vi tre då Carolina kommer. Det här är en vanlig dag i arbetet på och runtomkring centret!

De fyra huskropparnas grund arbetas med för att förhoppningsvis nästa vecka vara redo för gjutning av grundbjälklaget. Innan dess ska jord packas mellan grundväggarna, armering placeras, och sist men nog viktigast ska samtliga grunder termitbehandlas. De arbetar med husen i par; Hus C och D är nästintill färdiga, medan hus A och B numera är utmätta och helt utgrävda.

Bortsett från bygget av det nya barncentret händer även andra saker på site och Econef.
Först och främst finns en ny pojke på barnhemmet, Emanuel. Emanuel är sex år gammal har nu bott med de andra barnen sedan i december.

På site blir djuren fler och fler, och det byggs nu ett stall för Econef’s kor, getter och grisar. Förhoppningsvis får även åsnan en vrå i det nya stallet. Stallet är beläget avsides från centret och Baobabhuset nära dammen. Nära djuren planeras också en biogasanläggning. Förra veckan kom Joseph från Simgas, ett biogasföretag som finns i närheten, och gav oss information om hur systemet fungerade och ungefär vilka dimensioner som lämpar sig till antalet djur som finns och kommer att finnas i framtiden. Det som är bra med detta system är att det i princip är underhållsfritt och kan byggas ut varteftersom djuren blir fler. Systemet kostar 150 dollar/kubikmeter. Vill en vara med och sponsra anläggningen är det varmt välkommet att göra HÄR.

Kossorna i stallet
I lördags kom den äldre truppen av barnen till site. De lekte, vattnade och tog hand om alla plantor och träd och plockade majs medan Mama Goodie lagade utflyktsmat. De yngre barnen fick stanna hemma på det befintliga barnhemmet, men tycker det är väldigt spännande att se bilder på hur bygget fortskrider.
