Den g\u00e5ngna veckan har varit full av utmaningar och arbetsgl\u00e4dje. Veckan innan fick vi f\u00f6rst\u00e4rkning av Louis, en klipsk arkitektstudent med stort engagemang, som kommer ta \u00f6ver projektledningen av bygget n\u00e4r alla andra l\u00e4mnar. Vi hade en hel del l\u00f6sa tr\u00e5dar som skulle knytas ihop ungef\u00e4r samtidigt; perforerade v\u00e4ggar runt vattentankar, ringbeams, putsning av korridorv\u00e4ggen, takr\u00e4nna, r\u00f6r, f\u00f6nster, d\u00f6rrar och takpl\u00e5tar. Byggteamet f\u00f6rst\u00e4rktes med tre byggare som putsade korridor- och terrassv\u00e4ggen och tre snickare som hj\u00e4lpte till att montera den f\u00f6rsta leveransen av d\u00f6rrar och f\u00f6nster samt f\u00e4sta de sista takstolarna. R\u00e4nnan levererades och provmonterades p\u00e5 plats. M\u00e5let – att f\u00e5 taket p\u00e5 plats till helgen – visade sig vara f\u00f6r optimistiskt, men med samlade krafter lyckades vi sno ihop det mesta och kan nu k\u00e4nna oss stolta och n\u00f6jda f\u00f6r resultatet som g\u00f6r sig mycket bra b\u00e5de p\u00e5 bild och p\u00e5 plats.<\/p>\n

Veckan var ocks\u00e5 min sista vecka p\u00e5 bygget och med en blandning av gl\u00e4dje och sorg har jag nu l\u00e4mnat stafettpinnen till Eva, Conny, Christine och Louis som bland annat kommer se till att r\u00e4nnan monteras korrekt med v\u00e4lt\u00e4tade skarvar och taket kommer p\u00e5 plats ordentligt.<\/p>\n

F\u00f6r att fira framg\u00e5ngen p\u00e5 bygget arrangerades det en stor avtackningsfest p\u00e5 l\u00f6rdag med getbarbeque (kallas ocks\u00e5 t\u00e5rta p\u00e5 swahili) och svensk-tanzanisk hot dog\/pilaubuff\u00e9 f\u00f6r alla inblandade. Barnen fick leka, busa och sjunga bravurnumret, Nauses Hungry Hearts: ”we are the kids with the hungry hearts\/and they will never keep us apart”. Under Annas v\u00e4gledning har barnen under tiden vi har varit h\u00e4r byggt sina egna dr\u00f6mhus av lokalt tillg\u00e4ngliga, h\u00e5llbara material s\u00e5som kartong, plamblad och sisal. Dessa togs med till tomten och fotograferades med Kilimanjaro skymtandes i bakgrunden – symboliken i stunden var sl\u00e5ende.<\/p>\n

Utan tvekan har dessa sex veckor varit n\u00e5got av de h\u00e4ftigaste och mest l\u00e4rorika jag n\u00e5gonsin varit med om. Tiden har varit full av utmaningar, b\u00e5de byggtekniska och sociala, men ocks\u00e5 av skratt och gl\u00e4dje. Jeffrey, en av v\u00e5ra v\u00e4rdar och en amerikan som har bott i Tanzania l\u00e4nge sa n\u00e5got som f\u00f6r mig beskriver k\u00e4rleken till landet mycket v\u00e4l: ”It’s the struggle”. St\u00e4ndiga utmaningar, enkla – \u00e4ven primitiva – omst\u00e4ndigheter och n\u00e4rheten till naturen skapar stora k\u00e4nslokontraster, och lyckan f\u00f6rst\u00e4rks i sm\u00e5 vardagliga h\u00e4ndelser och i kontakt med andra m\u00e4nniskor. Med risk att l\u00e5ta klyschig vill jag uttala min djupaste tacksamhet till alla som har hamrat, murat, svetsat, borrat, kapat, burit, gr\u00e4vt, m\u00e5lat, putsat, kl\u00e4ttrat, slaktat djur, lagat mat, f\u00f6rhandlat, fotograferat, tolkat, gjort r\u00e4tt fr\u00e5n b\u00f6rjan, gjort fel och gjort om, vaknat med tuppen, \u00e5kt motorcykel utan hj\u00e4lm och taxi p\u00e5 gropiga v\u00e4gar, suttit i svettiga dala-dalan med en h\u00f6na i famnen, burit med sig 4 miljoner shillings i ryggs\u00e4cken, samlat p\u00e5 och bokf\u00f6rt kvitton, helt enkelt till alla som har gjort detta m\u00f6jligt.<\/p>\n
